Gig Harbor, WA, 7/07/2023 - Gig Harbor realtor, Darren Rivers, has found himself in rarified air as he has ranked amongst the top realtors in the nation the past two years. Coming in at #46 in sales volume of the top 100 U.S. Re/MAX realtors, in 2022, and #69, the previous year. To put that number in perspective, there are over 140,000 active RE/MAX agents.
Even before cracking the top 100, he had found himself climbing the charts for several years. His secret? Exceptionally noteworthy customer service. Specifically, his prompt communication and willingness to be available at the drop of a hat are usually some of the first things his clients mention.
A scan of the reviews on his Google Business Profile reveals common refrains from his clients like, “He's very prompt to respond and always makes time to be available for us whenever we need him (even after hours)…”
One client, Shang Tian, humorously summed up the sentiment his clients often feel when working with Darren, “Not only did he have an answer to every question we had, but he was also very quick to respond to our texts and calls. I often wonder if he just sits in his office and hits ‘refresh’ on the MLS portal.”
Though grateful for his clients’ praise, Rivers has come to understand his customer service as part of his business strategy. “I’ve often told people they’d be amazed by the amount of clients I’ve won from other realtors by just being extremely responsive in my communication,” said Rivers.
Though he acknowledges the challenges in the job, he says a lot of it comes down to serving people. “Obviously, you have to have knowledge of the local market and experience to know what to do in a myriad of situations, but a lot of the job isn’t rocket science. It’s just giving people what they sign up for when they look for a realtor,” said Rivers.
“What they signup for,” it seems, is someone who is able to help them jump on that perfect opportunity when a home comes on the market they think will be a good fit. Even as the market has slowed, many buyers find themselves in multi-offer situations, fighting other would-be buyers over the reduced market inventory.
Now, Rivers’ love for Gig Harbor and its residents has led to a new website project called Living in Gig Harbor. The site, which he created in partnership with local creative agency, Eternia Digital, is designed to help people unfamiliar with all or part of Gig Harbor’s life and neighborhoods learn more about the small Tacoma suburb. Even longtime Gig Harbor veterans will likely take away something new from the site.
“We spent the better part of a week just capturing beautiful photography of the city,” said Rivers regarding the work behind bringing the site to life. “The neighborhood profiles and blog posts are a testament to the the city I’ve lived and raised a family in for decades. I love this place and I’m just glad I get to serve the people here.”
The site is live now and you can follow the blog for ongoing insights into Gig Harbor life and real estate.
